#6. Coming soon...

Very excited about this...

Shortly the following gigs will be available:

Liverpool Empire - 16th May 2007

Wolverhampton Civic Hall - 14th June 2007

Manchester Apollo - 16th June 2007

Grimsby Auditorium - 18th June 2007

Barcelona Summercase Festival - 14th July 2007

Liverpool Echo Arena - 4th November 2010 - HOT OFF THE PRESS 8)

The Barcelona show has been available for a while, it will be interesting to compare the two. There is a DVD of that show too.

Talking of DVD's, there is a crowd-shot one out there from Liverpool Empire in 2007. I wonder how easy it would be to sync the master tape above with the film footage?

#5. Hammersmith 3rd October 1984

This is now live via Daveming's site (http/omd-live.blogspot.com/) and is ready to be downloaded for your listening pleasure!

The show was already recorded by BBC Radio 1 in the UK for broadcast and the transcription disc is a sought-after item for OMD collectors. I have a copy that includes the DJ voice over but the copy made available for you does NOT have this and makes for good listening.

Enjoy, and please feel free to leave a comment on the guestbook. :)

#4. 2010 UK tour

Posted on November 12, 2010 at 4:09 PM

Well, that's it for another 2-3 years. I saw the band in Brighton, Liverpool, Ipswich and London and each one was fantastic. The set was excellent and the band seemed so confident on stage.

Ipswich was my favourite. I did wonder how many people may have tickets but it looked as good as sold out to me and the reception from the crowd was just incredible.

I hope the European shows go well, fingers crossed that the wait for the next OMD album isn't quite so long....:)

Oh, and a big thanks to Villa Nah for their amazing support set. It wa nice to meet them in Ipswich!

#3. Update on blog #2

The Hanley show is excellent quality, bearing in my mind how long ago it was recorded! The soundcheck is very unique - you can hear Andy talking about the set and other venues but the instrument testing is very loud. There are a couple of songs played in full. The whole CD is around 30 minutes long.

Thanks again to Davemings for this!

#2. Live show updates

Been busy with work on this site but came home today to the news of 2 new-to-me shows on their way courtesy of Dave Mings.

Hanley Victoria Hall from 1981 and Manchester Apollo from the 1979 Numan tour! Very excited about these. :D

I'll update the pages when these arrive but check out the 'links' page to go to Dave's blog.

#1. My first ever blog...

Posted on August 18, 2010 at 3:59 PM

Welcome to my first ever blog :)

Let me tell you a little bit about the reason why I created this site. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark have had a huge impact on my life; their music has been playing for as long as I can remember and there is a song for every emotion and every occasion. When I hear some songs, I'm taken right back to when I first heard it. Ah, memories of a happy childhood...

Anyway, as I'm far too young to have seen the band first time around, I decided to collect as many live recordings as possible. Each show is unique and there is always something to listen out for. As my collection started to grow in the late 1990's, I had to collate the shows I owned to avoid buying the same one again (buying was the only way back then!). I looked for something different in each recording to be able to identify it and after years of an ever-growing excel spreadsheet that had expanded to include all gig history, I've come to this!

I hope you enjoy it.
